Sokol Minnesota and the Czech & Slovak School Twin Cities are proud to be a North American Consultation Center (host site) for the Virtual University for the Third Age (Virtuální univerzita třetího věku VU3V). This respected program has offered university courses remotely to seniors in the Czech Republic and beyond for 15 years. As a Consultation Center, we help to coordinate local and online activities to supplement the video lecture courses.

In Winter/Spring 2025, we are excited to offer a Czech genealogy course co-sponsored and led by the Czechoslovak Genealogical Society International (CGSI).

Co-coordinators: Kathy Jorgenson and Kevin Hurbanis

Course content provided by VU3V:
– 6 video lectures (in Czech with English subtitles) with bilingual online tests and study materials. A new lecture becomes available every three weeks starting January 1 and can be watched wherever and whenever.

Content provided by CGSI:
Seven online meetings. Meetings are conducted in English and are moderated by CGSI volunteers. There will be an introductory meeting and six meetings to discuss the topics of the video lectures. Participants may add a closing event if they wish. Attendance at the online meetings is optional.
