Join Minnesota jewelry artist Andrea Turini for an inside look at the rich history and living traditions of Czech glass and beadmaking. Based on her travels to Jablonec nad Nisou—the heart of the Czech glass industry—Andrea shares original photos and video from local workshops and factories, exploring how a small cottage industry evolved through communism and globalization while continuing to shape modern design. The presentation includes a hands-on demonstration of bead and button production and examples of finished Czech glass jewelry.

Czech Glass Jewelry Design Class

Sunday, February 1, 3 - 4 p.m.

Following her presentation, Heirloom Fire: Czech Glasswork, Andrea will lead a hands-on jewelry design session where participants can create their own Czech glass jewelry. Choose to make an earring and necklace set or an earring and bracelet set using authentic Czech beads from Andrea’s collection. Participants will select their beads and design their pieces; Andrea will complete the technical finishing during class. All skill levels welcome. Participants are expected to have attended the Heritage Fire presentation first.

Class Limit: 12 participants, ages 16+

Traditional Slovak Bryndzové halušky (potato dumplings, bryndza cheese, and bacon) holubky (cabbage roll), dessert, and coffee.
