"The Accidental Hero"

"The Accidental Hero"

Sunday, May 18th, 2 p.m.

The Accidental Hero is a jaw-dropping true story about Czech freedom at the end of World War II. U.S. Army Colonel Matt Konop, as a unit commander, liberated the remote border villages his grandparents had left for America decades earlier. When he was able to use the Czech he grew up speaking on a Wisconsin farm, the Czech townspeople hailed him as a hero. “We are liberated by one of our own!” The experience altered Konop’s sense of identity, freeing him from an ignorance of his Czech heritage.

His grandson, Patrick Dewane, tells this amazing story through a multi-media one-man show that has toured over a hundred venues across the United States and has earned awards in the Czech Republic.
