Summer Language Study in the Czech Republic: Programs & Scholarships
The Czech government generously funds scholarships for two month-long summer language programs in the Czech Republic. Both programs include intensive language classes, cultural activities, day trips, and more. Language levels are beginning to advanced. For ages 18 and up. Scholarships for our region are awarded through the Czech Consulate in Chicago. It is also possible to apply directly to the language programs as a self-paying student.
Applicants from Sokol MN are encouraged to let Education Director Sally Lieberman know that they are applying, in case there are updates.
1. The Czech Language Course for Compatriots From Abroad (kurzceského jazyka pro krajany) is designed especially for people of Czech heritage. Scholarship applicants are asked to provide evidence of involvement with a Czech community organization such as Sokol MN. Held in Poděbrady July 13-August 7, 2026. Scholarship deadline: March 31, 2026.

2. The Summer Schools of Slavonic Studies (LSSS) are intended primarily for college and graduate students, academics, and others with a serious interest in Czech language, history, culture, etc. Held in various locations; 2026 scholarships for Prague, Brno, Poděbrady; dates vary. Scholarship application deadline: March 15, 2026.
